High-Temperature Screw Conveyor for Conveying High Temperature Slag

Application

The customer needed a high-temperature screw conveyor to transport hot slag from a blast furnace to a slag pit.

Requirements

The conveyor needed to be able to transport slag at a temperature of 1300°C (2372°F) and at a rate of 40 tons per hour. The conveyor also needed to be able to handle the abrasive and corrosive nature of the slag and operate reliably with minimal maintenance.

Solution

The manufacturer designed and built a high-temperature screw conveyor with the following features:

Screw: The screw was made of high-temperature-resistant materials, including Inconel and stainless steel, to withstand the high temperatures of the slag.

Trough: The trough was made of carbon steel with a high-temperature-resistant lining to protect against abrasion and corrosion.

Bearings: The bearings were designed to withstand the high temperatures of the slag and were lubricated with a special high-temperature lubricant.

Sealing system: The conveyor was equipped with special high-temperature seals to prevent material leakage.

Cooling system: The conveyor was designed with a cooling jacket to dissipate heat and prevent overheating.

Safety system: The conveyor was equipped with temperature sensors and alarms to prevent accidents and injuries.

Results

The high-temperature screw conveyor met all of the customer's requirements and was able to transport hot slag reliably and efficiently. The conveyor required minimal maintenance and was able to operate at a high rate of 40 tons per hour.
