A standard Screw Conveyor inclined 15° upward will carry 75% of its rated horizontal capacity. At an inclination of 25°, a standard conveyor may only handle 50% of its horizontal capacity. These are estimated figures and will vary with the characteristic of the material being handled. Inclined Screw Conveyor capacities can be increased over short distances, if no intermediate hangers are required.

The rotating spiral blade pushes the material to convey in the screw conveyor. The force that makes the material not rotate with the blade of the screw conveyor is the weight of the material itself and the friction resistance of the shell of the screw conveyor to the material. The helical blades welded by the rotating shaft of the screw conveyor have solid surface, belt surface and blade surface according to the different materials conveyed. The screw shaft of screw conveyor has thrust bearing at the end of the material movement direction to give the axial reaction force to the screw along with the material. When the length is long, the bearing should be suspended in the middle.
